We’re going to give away ten free blank decks to people who respond to this survey. It doesn’t matter what your answers are, as long as they’re real answers and not just stuff you made up to fill out the survey. We’ll take all the people who submit reasonable answers and pick ten at random and then send them an email letting them know they won and asking where to send the deck to, so make sure you enter a valid email address.
The reason I ask these questions is because we’re considering opening an online store selling blank products, but we’re trying to do a little research first. We’ve already got the domain registered at www.myblankskateboarddeck.com, but as of yet nothing is set up there.
1. Do you buy blank decks? Why or why not?
2. If you buy blank decks, how often do you buy a new deck?
3. Have you bought a blank deck online? If so, what website did you use and why did you buy there?
4. Did you use a search engine to find the place you bought blanks from online? What keywords did you use? (i.e. blank, blank deck, blank decks, blank skateboard, cheap blank skateboard, cheap blank deck, etc.)
5. If you bought a blank skateboard online, how did you pay for it?
6. What other blank stuff do you buy?
7. How much do you pay for blank boards?
8. Do you hate blank decks and think everyone should buy company decks to support the pros?
9. Any other comments? Say something really good and maybe you’ll guarantee yourself a free blank.
That’s it, easy enough, eh?

1. Yes, for the lower price
2. Hopefully 2 months
3. Beer City skatepaige.com abc mini-logo, powell mini-logo if those count and various others
Read about them on messageboards
4. from http://www.skullandbonesskateboards.com/
I’ve done google and e-bay searches but was too chicken to risk it.
5. money order
6. Never tried anything else. I would never do trucks or bearings, but I’d give wheels, hardware a try.
7. 20.00-30.00
8. No, if your in a pinch for cash…
9. Blanks are a real word of month sale especially when your dealing on-line-you can’t check it like in a shop.
I’m pretty sure that saying this blank is from the same woodshop that makes fill-in big skate brand name isn’t allowed?
1- I sometimes buy blanks. Usually the Powell blanks. Sometimes it just looks better than some artsy board. You can put stickers on it to make your own board.
2- I buy a new deck every 3 months or so. 6 out of 10 times I’ll buy a blank.
3- Yes, Active Mailorder (Fast shipping)
4- I did not use a search engine, no.
5- /
6- If it’s cheaper, I’ll probably buy it. Belts, hats, whatever. I epecially like blank wheels in white. so fresh!
7- Here in AZ, $35.
8- I guess it can be bad for the industry if EVERYONE started buying blank decks, but I personally love ‘em.
9- The most important thing I look for when picking a deck out is the shape and size. I like stiff wood, and skinny decks. Not too much concave, and colors that don’t bleed. I’ve had some blank decks that “bleed” whenever I ride through a puddle or something.-thanks
1.Yes I do buy blank decks because I think most others are over priced.
2.The time for when i buy new decks depends on what i have been doing and the quality of the deck.I try to keep them for at least a couple months.
3.I have not bought a blank online.
4.If i used a search engine I would have wrote blank decks or blank skateboards.
5.Credit card I would think.
6.I would probably not buy blank wheels or bearings for fear of bad quality. I would buy blank hardware.
7.In the $20-$35 range,I wouldnt pay much more than $35 unless it had special features or something along those lines.
8.I think its great to support skate companys but the merchandise has become way over priced.
9.I love the idea of blank skateboards its such a positive thing now that skateboarding a has become very image based. For people who really dont care about the industry and just want to have fun skateboarding blank deck sites like these are just a great thing to have.
1. The are cheaper and they last the same time as non-blanks
2. Usually when It breaks, so around 1, maybe 2 months
3. No, I’ve always bought it at a skateshop
4. I Buy them at a skateshop
5. Don’t buy it online, but i’ve seen some at 20-30 dollars
6. Wheels, for the same reason as the blank decks
7. around 30 dollars
8. I don’t hate blank decks, I love them
If you wish to support the pros,Yo can buy company decks.
It’s your own choise
9. I don’t know, Just skate with the decks you wanna skate
and have fun with it, If you don’t have fun skating, than skating is nothing for you
peace
1. Yes. They’re inexpensive. I don’t care about the graphics being produced on most skateboards.
2. Once every 3-4 months usually.
3. Yes, Blankdecks.com
4. blank deck, blank decks
5. Debit card
6. None
7. $25-$30
8. I haven’t bought many but what I’ve seen is decent quality. Others have tried my blank and liked the feel. I do try to buy from companies I support every so often.
9. Make sure the blanks you sell come in a variety of molds. With some similar to popular company decks. It makes shopping online a little easier since you can’t stand on the deck before you buy. Let people know where the wood comes from and that its quality.
Also have competive shipping prices and deals(buy over $60 get free shipping). Consider a message board where people can post questions etc.
I’m with Mark above. I’ll only pay more than $35 for blanks with special features.
1.yes cuz i dont hav 2 worry about messing up the pics.
2.when ever mine is trashed
3.no
6.wheels
7.20.00-30.00
8.no. if you want a company board you can get it. its much more money also. but i like blanks and elements
9.i like 6 or 7 ply decks only. i am a girl skater who is 13 and i want to prove the boys wrong that i am good enough to be sponsored. so if i get a new deck(mine is trashed)it wud be great. plzzzz!
1. they are cheaper. no doubt. they usually ride better
2. i buy a new deck every month or so depending on the condition of my board
3. i bought a blank from ccs before, i bought it cuz it was cheaper and it looked like it would skate better
4. nah i herd of ccs threw friends n such
5. via depit card
6. other blank items wheels and hardware bearings also
7.for blank decks i pay about 25 to 30 $
8. i dont hate blanks i love them. you can draw a graphic on it or sticker it up, i like em cuz they cheap and i think the skate better
9. blank decks are the ill hook up, when you snap your current deck and you need a replacement deck and you only got $30, you can get a blank. you realize they skate ill. so you only ride them and boards you bum off your friends. im way past the date but i hope you guys look at this
1.Yes. Cheaper and its the same thing as a marked up pro model.
2.Usually about every 2 months if it lasts that long.
3.No. I just go to the local skate shop.
4.Get them at a Skateshop. Don’t have a credit card.
5.never have.
6.wheels and boards only. Got to rock the Indys and Swiss Bones!
7.The going price nowadays is 35 bucks.
8.Got to love those pros, but I support my wallet over them.
9.Having a shop deck represents that shop so if I like the people at the shop I’m kinda proud to show that deck. I mean why hire someone that doesn’t know anything about a board. Ok now I’m just going on and on, but the moral is don’t shop at any Zumiez’s.
HAPPY SKATEBOARDING
1. Yep, some of the time. It really depends on the feel of the board. I’m not too interested in the graphics. In fact sometimes I’ve bought a pro board with graphics I’ve hated, but the board felt so #$%#$ good!
2. Assuming I buy one blank in every two boards, I’d say one every year or two.
3. Nope, not yet.
4. n/a – but if I did I’d search on the keywords:
blank skate skateboard decks quality 100% maple usa canada
5. n/a
6. Wheels
7. I’m in Australia, so the price is in Aussie Dollars – $50 – $60 AUD
8. Not at all. Supporting pros and companies is great, but sometimes it’s ‘cooler’ to have a blank under your arm (and feet). It’s in the spirit of skateboarding… anti-establishment, and all that.
9. I think it’s really important to let your customers know what wood they’re skating on, and where it’s made. I’d pay more for a blank made in US, Canada, or Australia, but wouldn’t mind a Chinese board if the price were scaled accordingly.
I think the overall quality and endurance is important.. especially the ‘chip’ factor. Also, some boards – even pro models – seem to be made of overly soft wood, which isn’t too great if you like to have a tail on your board.
I think blank decks should keep any graphics/logos quite small and understated. It sorta defeats the point of a ‘blank’ otherwise.
I think a variety of sizes and concaves are good. Detailed descriptions of the steepness of nose/tail/concave can be handy if buying online.
And speaking of online selling… nice large, high quality photos will help sell your boards! It’s something a lot of online shops neglect. When you click on a photo for a larger view, make it LARGE.
Also, here’s a personal taste thing when it comes to the ‘look’ of boards. I dig the coloured ply layers… I know a lot of the larger companies do it. You know, the red/orange etc layers of wood. Makes the boards look slimmer, and differentiate them from others without the use of graphics.
Well that’s my two cents – actually, probably a lot more! I hope that helps you. I dig this site/venture, and hope to support it in the future. My mates and I are always looking for good quality boards, so if Sublimited decks are good, hopefully an Aussie market may open up for you.
1) sometimes, it depends on how much money i have.
not really. Like if you want billy marks to make another killer part, then you should buy his board. If you don’t have much money, or don’t really care about pro brand, then the blanks are all for you.
2) most of the time, its every four months or so.
3) yes. CCS and ebay.
4) ebay. blank, blank deck, cheap blank, cheap deck, cheap blank deck.
5) paypal, visa.
6) you mean without a logo? wheels and sometimes trucks.
7) anywhere from $20 to $40.
9) uhhh… board graphics don’t really matter, i hate the people that buy them just for the pictures on the bottom. Then they get all, “my board sucks!” and its just like “well there jack@$$, you shouldn’t have bought it for the graphic!!!” blanks to me, are almost a way to tell the real hard-core skaters apart from the posers. and you can do the whole DO-IT-YOURSELF graphic, thats really hard core.
Different sizes are a must-have for most shops, that way you can supply any rider with the right size for them.
1.yes i buy em. why? cuz blanks are cheaper – cheap blanks = more leftover cash to buy more decks to skate more, get it?
2. bout every 2 weeks
3. yes, sk8factory.com – good price on 12 decks – $156, great quality too
4. yeah, i typed in all those and more! when you need wood, you need wood!
5. paypal, mc
6. griptape rolls, wheels, bearings sometimes – looking for “blank” swiss – any leads?
7. i buy bulk – about 14 per deck
8. no i love blank decks. see question #1. ill support certain pros now and again, but you know what, theyre all pretty paid, and im still a broke skater. besides, theyve got the support of legions on annoying little kids anyways
9. at the end of it all, if your focus isnt on ythe skating itself and your lown enjoyment, youve missed the point. to hell with the fashion, the trends, the shoe deals, the bling, the studded belts, the makeovers, blah blah bla. REMEMBER KIDDIES, THE BEST SKATER IS THE ONE HAVING THE MOST FUN!
1. yes i buy blanks, ten at a time, so i can skate with confidence, for example: if you skate w/ the fear of breaking your deck then you won’t skate as well, so if you have plenty of back ups, then your fine.
2. well i buy my decks 5-10 at a time, so i have plenty of back ups.
3. i only buy my decks online, i usually buy them from ebay.com
4. no i didn’t i just figured that ebay would have an abundance of decks that i could choose from.
5. i payed for it w/ a credit card, or i used a cashiers check
6. i have blank wheels, i prefer the no-namers b/c they ride really nice
7. i can get about 10 for about $100 so thats what i usually go for
8. no i love blanks, i would much rather buy blanks, b/c then i can customize it my self, and i would like to support the big companies but they overcharge wayyy to much, i just like blanks a lot more
9. i really like how finding other people that like blanks as much as i do, i mean i get made fun of a skateparks just b/c i dont’ have an “expensive deck” but i don’t care b/c i have 10x as many decks as they do and i can skate with more confidence and, i can try harder things with more confidence, thanx
1. yes b/c the les expensive
2. not very often
3.no i havnt bought 1 online yet
4. yes, inexpensive blank skateboard
5. havnt bought online yet
6.i buy blank paper
7.20 to 25 dollars
8.no
9.i think blank decks r a great way for beginers to pick there first board cuz they dont cost as much as brand name 1s and they dont hav to wory that much about mesin it up if ther not that good at first
1.honestly, i use to be in love with blank decks. but now you never know what your buying because decks come in different shapes, sizes, strengths, and everyones making them now. So i just stick to buying boards im confident with likej DGK, mystery, city, plan b, alien, and chocolate
2. i skate hard and skate until i get everything right. normally boards wont last me more than 2-3 weeks if im skating a good spot or trying to work on new tricks. so i end up buying a new board or two every 3–5 weeks.
3. yes. blankskatesupply.com. and i only bought the boards from them because they make their boards theirselves.
4. yeah. i typed in blank skateboard decks and saw blank skate supply and el skate shop.
5. I ordered mine when my friend ordered a new complete so we used his credit card. Normaly i pay with a money order.
6. Alot of times i find myself buying blank wheels and blank bearings because normally their better thant the name brands. My blank abec 7 bearings and slim wheels from blankdecks.com latsted me almost a year before needing to be replaced.
7. Any where between $20-35. I just know not to buy anything form whoever makes goodwood. those are some crappy blanks and crappy graphic decks.
8. I dont have a problem skating blank decks. if i knew what i was buying i would buy them more often. but only buy company decks if you like their shapes and pop or unless you want to support your favorite pro’s or ams.
9. If your dealing with mothership dist. i know your getting good boards. but if your not your getting something crappy. let riderns know what their buying and stay away from stuff you or your riders wouldnt ride. the best decks are the 7 ply, light weight decks, that have a nice medium-steep concave, great pop, good strength, and dont chip fast. If you make them or sale them skaters willl buy them.
yeah, it was pretty easy. but just keep up the good work and keep me and other skaters up to date with whats going on in the skateboard world.
1. yeah …. i find that they are cheaper and for some reason they dont break as easy for me then name brands!
2. i can only get a new one every year if i am lucky every year because i am really tight on money!
3. yeah … http://www.skatesonhaight.com i found it on google.com search engine!
4. yeah … i typed in buy blank skateboard decks and it came up on the first page!
5. my moms credit card because i had no clue which other ways to do it!
6. mostly blank wheels because i dont really see the reason for buying name brand wheels when the blanks work just as good for me!
7. on the last one i paid 24.99 beacause it was on sale but ussually they’re at least 30.00!
8. personally blank decks have always worked better for me … i mean the first board i got was a blank and that was when i was like 10 … so no but it all depends on what works better for the person!
9. i think that having the abillity to buy a blank skate board has really opened up skateboarding to a whole new group of people who cant really afford to buy a company deck, including myself, so it really is a positive building thing to have these decks out for sale. its how i got started so , i mean it has to be a good thing to help other people get started … and i just wanna say to all the other girl riders who are ashamed to hear what people think about them skating ….. just ignore them and do what you feel is right! thanks and i hope to hear from you soon.
I’d give you a free deck Rebecca but I feel like you lack enthusiasm.
1. Yes i do because they are usually less expensive then regular decks.
2. Whenever my current board is no longer skateable.
3. nope
4. nope
5. nope
6. Wheels and pretty much everything else except bearings.
7. Usually $30.
8. Forget that, blank decks are just as good if not better.
9. Skating rocks and good luck with your company.
That’s it, easy enough, eh?
how do you get ten free blank decks
1.yes i buy them 2.i buy one about every 9 to 10 months because skateboards are so exspensive

2. About every 3 months or so.
3. I have not bought one online.
4. I have search the net for them.(blanks skateboards, skateboards without art…)

6 blank wheels
7 15-20$
8 no support local
9 with a blank deck you can do whatever you want to with it and really show your inner artist
1 yes cost, graphics not important, good ply construction
2 every couple a months
3 yes
4 yes, skateboard blanks, inexpensive
5 yes, credit card
6 wheels, long board
7 about 20
8 seeing a lot of kids using them lately, nobody seems to care about whether its blank or designed, especially since after a couple of grinds, the design is wiped off the bottom, tail, nose, center anyhow.
9 Actually have noticed that most of the people I see at the park seem to regard more highly the personal graffiti that kids do to thier boards and other art work, like stensils than store bought graphics. Especially the stencils that people do to thier top side grip tape, either cut out grip tape design, or spray painted stensil design. The really pricey boards also command respect, but again, those graphics dont last long after a couple of grinds. Perhaps your blank decks could be just a monochromatic color, or even a high gloss polyurethane enamel with hardener, that may even extend the life of the board. Also perhaps you could include stensil patterns that kids could cut out themselves.
peace. MC
1. Yes, cuz their cheaper
2. Usualy 2 months,when it breaks
3. No,I always buy them at the skateshop.
4. No
5. …
6. Yes,blank wheels
7. Usualy 30$
8. No,but I costs more money and it will eventualy break,si I prefer blank decks.
9. It’s great now cuz skateboardin is very poular and a lot of people can afford it.if you are just a begginer i don’t see the point of buying company decks. It will soon break and you will cry cuz your parents won’t give you any more money. It hapend to me before I discoverd the black decks. But now,my parents are so pissed yhey won’t give me money for a new blank and that’s why I want a new board.
1. Do you buy blank decks? Why or why not? Yes I do buy blanks decks, the reason is they are a much lower price, I can afford to skate them and get a new one when it wears out, and I can sell them to friends for a slightly higher price.

3. Have you bought a blank deck online? If so, what website did you use and why did you buy there?Yes, I order 10 blanks of ebay. It ussually cost me like 10$ a board and is a great deal, I also buy a 50 box of black magic griptape for like 200$ off of a1skateboards.com and I grip all my own boards.
4. Did you use a search engine to find the place you bought blanks from online? What keywords did you use? (i.e. blank, blank deck, blank decks, blank skateboard, cheap blank skateboard, cheap blank deck, etc.)When I first got on ebay I searched for 10 Blank 8″ decks. Then I find the best deal.
5. If you bought a blank skateboard online, how did you pay for it?paypal or credit card.
6. What other blank stuff do you buy?anything but bearings , griptape ,and hardware, I have to have my select bearings and grip, and hardwares cheap enough for a name brand company, I also like my bolts colored for easy telling differences between the nose and tail.
7. How much do you pay for blank boards? I ussually pay like 100$ for ten I try to find the best deal I can with a trusted company.
8. Do you hate blank decks and think everyone should buy company decks to support the pros? No I don’t I do feel good when supporting a pro and I think pro boards are cool, but they are way to pricey. Blank boards are good enough for me.
9. Any other comments? Say something really good and maybe you’ll guarantee yourself a free blank.
That’s it, easy enough, eh? Yes, if you all start making blanks, offer a package that cost less per board and sells them in bulk. A free ground shipping option if you order so many would also be nice. On top of that give skaters the choice to have you apply whatever griptape they want to their boards for an extra price. Don’t make a crappy board either, stay with a nice simple concave and mellow kicks that are a great shape.
1) Yes i buy blank decks all the time because they are cheaper, the quality is the same as picture boards as well. Graphic decks are just to xpensive.
2) I skate a lot so i buy a board like every two weeks but in summer its like every week. I have just started buying in bulk online from the US because it works out even cheaper and i can get some bangin boards.

7. How much do you pay for blank boards? Id say ten bucks a blank, I pay 19.95 if I need a board in a rush.
8. Do you hate blank decks and think everyone should buy company decks to support the pros? No Im all for blank decks they let the skater express them selves and the best part is if anything happens to the board they can AFFORD TO KEEP SKATING, Buying a brand name deck is a money pit if you skate alot.
9. Any other comments? Say something really good and maybe you’ll guarantee yourself a free blank.
That’s it, easy enough, eh? Suggestions, BRING BACK BAMBOO BLANK SKATEBOARDS. They are almost impossibe to find and everyone is going crazy for bamboo products now and days. It gives a nice cool feeling. You dont even have to sticker a bamboo board cause it gives off its own character. I know alot of guys who cant find them and would kill for bamboo skateboards.
Also besides selling single blanks ,Sell in bulk ten decks for so and so amount. SAVES SO MUCH TIME to order all the decks you need at once where as if you buy one blank board and it snaps you probaly have to wait a whole week before you can get your next deck.
1. Yes. Thay are cheaper.

8. Haha, no way. It’s like music piracy. It doesn’t matter because the pros still get paid.
9. Um, *F* the police?
1. yes because i like to customise my own skateboard plus its cheaper.
2. about every 3 months depends if i have been skateing alot.
3. i used to buy them online on ebay or skateshop.com until i got bored waiting it to be delivered so i decided to go to a shop instead.
4. yes i used google and i searched cheap blank decks.
5. my dad used his credit card for it.
6.i buy trucks and wheels and accesories.
7. about £30
8. no i think more people sould buy blank decks and be more creative and not roll around on the same boards as everyone else.
9. maby you could build your busness up buy selling blank decks and when you have enough funds create your own decks and merchandise and maby hold competions were you ask people to create deck desighns to use as your own.
1 Yea, You dont have to buy a big name deck to get a good one. I have always rode blank decks.
2 I skate them till they get really beat up or i have enough seved up to buy a new one I ussually get a new one every 5 months cause i dont have much money…most of my money comes from the winter so…
3 I am going to buy them online now because our local skate shops are all closing or being put up for sale.
4 To find them i used google, I put in nice blank deck.
5 my dads credit card but id rether use paypal.
6 everything but grip and hardware
7 25-35 bucks
8 No like i said i have only rode blank decks. Only name brand decks i ever got was free from a friend and i didnt really like riding it…
9 make sure to explain all aspects of your decks to make buying easier
1. Yes, because I like to be able to stick stickers, and design it myself.
2. I buy new decks about every 6 weeks.
3. No, but if the ones you sell are good quality, then I’ll consider it.
4. Yes, “Blank Decks” or “Blank Skateboard Decks”
5. I guess it depends on how many I buy.
6. Paper, cards…etc
7. It depends, some places sell them for about $19.99
8. No, I think that blank decks are cool, because you get to create your board, so that it suits yourself, and your own personal style. But pro skaters skateboards are also cool.
9. Yes, I’m actually currently thinking of designs, that I could put on a blank. I love getting to create stuff, in my own style, that’s what makes it so unique!
Yes, it was easy, and I liked taking the survey, good luck on opening an online store!!!
1.I do not buy blank decks because i dont have any money
2.i dont often get any decks so its hard to get a blank
3.ive never bought any deck online because i dont know how light it is what size it is or even iv its got a huge dent out of it
4. pass
5.pass
6.pass
7.around £25.00
8.i love blanks more then comany decks
9.and i will skate but im not sure for how much longer because i think my decks going to snap soon fingers crost i really need a new deck.
1) Not Usually but IF I’m Low on Cash then yeah
No I dont hate blank decks but pro decks are much more ligher and laster longer. Especially if you know a few people at a skateshop who can hook you up =]
2) Like a month to 5 months. depends on how Not lazy I am
3)Nope
4) Yep Googled Skateshops and went there If the didn’t have it, google on cell phone and looked up skateshops again
5) Look at #3
6) Nuthing really Unless Spray paint or stickers count XP
7) $20 if i’m lucky. Usually around $30 to $40
9) Just like many of the people have said being able to buy blank deck in bulk is very convient but I really dont encourage blacks boards if do really crappy stuff to your board cause , for me at least, blank decks usually break in half the time it takes me to break a good pro deck. But if youre just a steet skater and just like to ride around, get blanks. So much cheaper than pros if you’re never gunna do something to break off the tail or something. (Skateshop decks are sometimes better than blanks and cost less depending on the store) Hope that helps
1. no
2. never
3. no

Why pay $60.00 for a board if you can buy a blank one for $30.00? When you get a blank board you can design it how you want. Then you can add your own touch of flare and bring the board to life.
