I finally went over to the Sandy skate park. I don’t know why I’ve put it off for so long…oh yeah, it’s the crowds of 8-year old kids riding Razor scooters, bikes, and toy skateboards. And some of them are just running around without any sense of skate park etiquette. But I finally went, and I must say I waited too long. This is one of the best skateparks in Utah.
It’s on 7th East and just north of 106th south. It’s pretty easy to spot, right next to the street.
First of all, it’s got something for almost everyone. Small bowls, medium bowls…sorry guys, no big bowls. Low round rails, medium-height round rails, a little too big in diameter for my tastes, but still pretty fun.
The metal on everything appears to be the right kind. Not too sticky, corners not too sharp but not too rounded either, etc.
The park is big enough that you can skate all sorts of little sections of it, and for the most parts the lines are set up so that you don’t have to look in ten different directions to make sure you don’t run into anyone.
The exception is in the bowl areas. If you’re not careful you could get hit by people coming from multiple directions all at once. It can get crazy when there are too many people, but it’s a lot of fun where there aren’t many.
The concrete isn’t lumpy, it’s nice and smooth, and guess what, it even has lights. What a revolutionary idea. Now if it only had a roof we’d be getting somewhere. Why don’t cities put coverings over skate parks? Not like a building, just a roof like they have over the picnic tables, only higher and bigger. Can you imagine how nice that would be to have that on a rainy day or a hot day?
The Sandy skatepark does have a few weird obstacles, like a pyramid in the middle of the shallow bowl that is absolutely useless. I don’t understand how they can build everything else so right and then have this thing that is so wrong.
Most of the other things I could complain about are minor items, like flat bars that would be a lot easier to hit if they were at a slightly different angle, or the roaming packs of BMXers who don’t look out for anyone else, or the little kids who are allowed to roam free without any parental restraint.

please guys please tell me the correct physical address to you’re skate park
Well, it’s not technically “our skatepark” although I’m sure if we took over we could fix some of the problems by not allowing bikers, bladers, or scooters and no kids under 10, but if it’s just the address you want rather than a soapbox, here you go:
10145 South 700 East, Sandy, UT 84070
Good summer but I really like the park sure sometimes it is crowded but all in all it is probably the best skatepark in utah
If your going to go to sandy you need to go early like 8am 9ish. that way its cool and usualy completely deserted. Its a great park to just flow around in. my only complaint is the bowls. they have no vert at all. there more like banks with copeing on them.
I personally love Fairmont because unlike Sandy as Nevets said they’re “more like banks with copeing on them” they even have low medium and high bowls!!!

I agree with snakemod Sandy skatepark bowls are like a bunch of ramps and Fairmonts actually go vertical, making it fast funner and more advanced of a park, Sandy is for beginers and if you suck just go there you’ll fit in just fine.
