Taylorsville Utah Skate Park

It’s at 4800 South, Redwood Road in Taylorsville, but don’t bother going. This skatepark was one of the earlier skateparks built in Utah, and it’s not very good. Tearing it down and putting in a flat piece of concrete with a few ledges would be a much better idea.

It’s not that the park doesn’t have potential. The basic design could be pretty fun, but things are just built poorly, and apparently the park has had some problems with settling. Seams in the concrete appear to have shifted up to two inches in some places, and these cracks are just where you don’t want them to be. It would take a lot of bondo to make this place very skate worthy.

To say the transitions are mellow is a gross understatement. Some of the transitions are larger than those on a vert ramp. They’re hardly steep enough to even qualify as a bank, they’re more like slopes.

Then other transitions are too steep. There is an obstacle I can only call a “thing” because I’m not sure what to call it, but the parts you’re obviously supposed to ride up are steeper than the Beryl banks. I bet Daewon would even have trouble riding them.

Seriously, just keep on driving. The South Jordan skatepark isn’t too far away, and is much better skating.
