It’s not even officially open yet, but it is skate worthy, if a little dusty. Mark and I just headed on down there for a chilly, January session, and although there are several park in Utah that I have yet to skate, I don’t mind saying I’m pretty sure this is the best one.
Directions: Get off at the exit in American Fork where the llamas are. It’s the 500 east exit. It’s just south of the Lehi exit, and just north of the new Pleasant Grove exit. It’s where Wal-Mart used to be but isn’t anymore. So get off there and head east, towards the mountains. You’re going to take a left, but don’t take the one by Carl’s Jr., take the one that’s just before Deseret Industries. So now you’re going north. Head a few blocks and it will be on your left.
Yes, there are bathrooms, and you’ve got places to eat and get drinks and such within a few minutes walking distance (I’m not sure the road going to it is skateable).
If you’ve checked out the Skate Plaza then this park will look familiar. While not of the quality that the Skate Plaza is, there are a lot of similar features. What excites me about this park is that it is one of the first parks to have legitimate stairs, handrails, pyramid hips (outside of Park City which is too far to drive and too snowy all winter), and it’s all set up in such a way that you can actually get some real speed. You want to talk about valley flyout? Get some good pushes in up by the bowl and by the time you go down the three banks you’ll have so much speed you can fly ten feet no prob when you hit the bank at the bottom going the other way.
This park also has a lot of obstacles you may have never seen in Utah before. Stuff that looks more like Barcelona. The metal on the ledges is of the correct type and grinds great without wax.
When I saw this from the freeway I thought it was going to be small and kind of lame, but it really is a good park. Congrats American Fork, you’re on the map. They just need to get all the dirt off of it. The place is a mess right now.
But enough of me talking, here are a bunch of photos.

The Bowl
I’m not a bowl guy, although I’d like to be. But I at least dropped in and rode around a bit. Everything seemed to be decently smooth. I do think it was a little tight in areas, but I’m sure that won’t keep anyone from ripping it. Sorry, no pool coping, it’s metal all around, but it does look to be decent metal at least and well placed.

Are you that stoned that you didn’t notice all the flat bottom???? You may not be a bowl guy but you gotta realize the amount of wasted space at this park. I can get the same thrill skating in the street in front of my house as I can on 25% of this park. The bowl rocks!!! There is now flow for the embankments for the rest of the park. This is a glorified version of the crappy Orem park.
this park is so nar it is way sick
Well at least it’s not a 9th and 9th park, where you got great stuff, but kids, and other skaters are packed in like sardines.
I think the extra space will be nice so the kids don’t get in the way as much as other parks.
Can’t wait to shred some nar nar on the reg brahs. Crazy coldness right now, and inversion doesn’t help skating.
Good stuff.
Props to AF City!
one of the best parks
This park is marvelous, in no way a glorified version of Orem Park. This park is the real deal. It was built by Skaters for skaters. The “wasted space” is nice because once you get going too fast(which is very easy in this park) you don’t have random objects in the middle of your run. The obstacles are great, the coping is amazing since you don’t have to wax it to grind it. You can get some good air off the banks onto the flats and the stairs are gnarly since they aren’t he normal stair lenght and size we see on the streets or other parks.
The park is synonimous with flow, you can try a new line every time you go to the park. It is still dusty but not was bad as january had it. It’ll be better once it is officially open.
This skate park is great. The only thing that it is missing are more grinding rails. I am a beginner but I can grind. It needs more rails that are a little low to the ground so that people that are learning to skate and those who are good at skating get the opportunity to advance in their skills
The park is great and all but it is missing rails. It needs more low rails for beginners to practice on.
The park is ok. i think there should be more vert ramps because they r really fun. it needs more low rails though. i still think the orem is a little better. im sorta still a beginner, so at the orem there is more stuff 2 do. its always crowded 2. to me there is not much 2 do at AF. i think it would be way cool if they had a low handrail. i mean it wouldnt be a hand rail, just a low box going down a ramp.
the street portion of this park is worthless crap. The bowl is sick though. I am primarily a street skater, but I have been going to this park regularly because of the bowl. Don’d be afraid. just slide down into it and have fun. But please take turns and stay out of the way when the grown ups arrive.
This skatepark is the most intense park i have ever been to. This thing is awesome. I love the hand rails the boxes the flat round the pipes the bowl. I love skatin everything. It has everything here it is awesome. everybody needs to come here this thing is sweet. You wont not be disapointed in what you skate on here. Youwill love it.
American fork skatepark is the closest one to my house and by far my favorite. It is not so much a beginer park, therefore it isnt all that crowded. The 8 stair set with the hand rail is sick. favorite thing to hit up in that park. Im gald it doesnt have low rails and low boxes so little kids wont come
too many little kids and scooter kids get in the way. I hat it when that happens! They should make you have to be good enough to enter so none of those annoying kids come in. This park is sick!
i think its a sick park but there is too many little kids that come around one and all thay do is sit in the line of the six and ride there scooters down the ramps but other then that its a fun pak but more advance so little kids should stay out
its gay the city is gay the park is never open the city hall there sucks
Yes, it is a very nice and festive skatepark, and a very happy city indeed full of joyful people, not to mention patriotic, and so I couldn’t agree with you more on those points, but then the second half of your sentence seems to express a different opinion about city hall which doesn’t seem to jive with the first half of the sentenc….oh…I see. Well, that’s just not very nice at all young man.
