Skateboard Magazine Delivery Race

This is the type of post that is virtually meaningless, but interesting to a select few out there, I’m sure. I subscribed to all the skate magazines (The Skateboard Mag, Transworld, SLAP, Thrasher, Skateboarder) on pretty much the same day, but I’ve received my first issues at varying times. Here’s how it went down.

To date I have recieved two issues of Transworld, two of Skateboarder, and one of the Skateboard Mag, but nothing from SLAP or Thrasher, but they’re the most hardcore so that’s probably why.

Now you might think that maybe my subscriptions weren’t process by SLAP or Thrasher or something, but I know Thrasher got it because they sent me that Thrasher Beers, Bowls, and Barneys DVD that was promised with my subscription. But no magazine yet. I was hoping I had subscribed in time to get the issue with Rowley on the cover, because I’m still not sure what’s going on there.

But what else is funny about all this is that I got the June issue of Skateboarder first, and then two weeks later I got the May issue.

Let me tell you though, subscribing to all the magazines is the way to do it. You know how you wait all month for your magazine to come and it’s just a pain? But when you subscribe to five magazines then you’ve got more than one per week coming on average, and so instead of your magazine always coming later than you expect or hope it will, you’re getting magazines you weren’t expecting at all, which makes your day.

I also have to say I’m pretty happy with all the free DVDs being sent out with magazines. The Thrasher DVD looks like it was edited by Jake on an old camcorder after a few cold ones, but it has some insane pool skating in it, and if you listen closely you’ll hear beer tabs opening in the background every ten seconds.

I also got the Almost video by subscribing to the Skateboard Mag, which came with Daewon vs. Rodney I and II on it, so it’s like three videos in one.

And I think I heard something about a free Adio DVD being shipped with one of these mags next month or something.
