How to Get Sponsored – Lesson #1

Every 14-year old skater out there wants to get sponsored and get free stuff, skate all the time, get chased by 13-year old girls, etc., right? Ok, I’m going to tell you how it’s done. Here’s lesson #1 on getting sponsored.

First, ride a skateboard good.
No, seriously, you need to be really, really good. Amazingly good. Better than the guys in the videos, because everything you see in the videos is what they were doing months or even years ago. So once you can put together a video part like the guys in the videos, you’re good enough to have gotten sponsored last year. Now you have to come up with some tricks you haven’t seen in videos yet.

Style is part of being good too. Remember style. Also, remember that doing a kickflip front board on a flat rail in your driveway while you’re moving about as fast as your grandpa can shuffle down that same driveway to get the mail doesn’t come across the same to a team manager as doing it down the Hollywood 16. I know they’re both rails, and they’re both made of metal, but the stairs really make a difference.

So remember lesson #1–be good on a skateboard.

I think you need to just set a goal for me I wrote down about 16 tricks to get 10 out of 10 and 2 decks high… Then I got 2 Really hard tricks to be my “Master tricks” I know that sounds retarded for me it was switch big heel and fakie bigspin flip so i toke it down as many stairs as i can ollie.. Also blance be able to skate ledges sets rails and gap (vert) is up to you but you sound have 3 of those all about the same… If you can ollie a 10 but only kickflip or heelflip a 4 then stop witht he ollies and work on your other tricks i like to have all my tricks 4 stairs under my ollie… Skate switch and nolie i can switch ollie 10 stairs and i can ollie 12… Work hard skate late and when your ready make a skate vid.. Good luck =)

Well next time you see a really good looking boy 14 or under who is sponsored (WHILE YOUR NOT), even though he’s not even that good at skating and your WAY better! Ask who he had to suck off to get sponsored? His answer might surprise you!
