The guys over at Binary hosted a premiere for the Skate More DVS video last night at their park.
Maybe it was the kids in the back who yelled and screamed during the ENTIRE VIDEO for no apparent reason other than to attract attention, or maybe it was my high expectations, but I was a little bit let down with it. Not really let down, just a little. If my expectations were a 10, I’d give it an 8.
I think I’d give “best part” to Mikey Taylor, if only for the music in his part. While the other skaters were able to convince me they’re still good, there wasn’t much that impressed or made me think “Whoah!”
I had heard from various sources that if you were impressed with Daewon’s part in Almost then his part in Skate More would blow you away. I’d say that a more accurate statement would be to say that if you were impressed with his part in the Almost video you would continue to be impressed with his part in Skate More. It’s basically a continuation of his part in Almost Round 3. It looks like it was filmed at the same time, and he chose certain tricks to go in one video and others to go in the other. All in all, I think his Almost part was longer, and therefore maybe better. However, there are some parts in Skate More where he pulls better tricks. For example, in the Almost video he pulls a kickflip at a spot where no one else would even think to skate, let alone do a flip trick. In Skate More he does a 360 flip at the same spot, so in that sense his part in Skate More is a little better.
Real quick with some of the other parts: You can tell Jason Dill is good, but between silly clothing and a rather small array of tricks, some of them a bit lame to watch (I’m saying I couldn’t do them, but just because I can’t do them doesn’t mean I want to see them in a video) his part fails to impress.
Chico’s part was better than I was expecting, Jeron’s wasn’t. Steve and Getz’s parts were about exactly what I was expecting, no more, no less. I’m glad they got Busenitz in there, that guy is nuts. He should just give up and start wearing leathers like stunt motorcycle riders because he’s sliding down those streets all the time anyway.
Anyway, is it a good video? Yes, definitely. Worth buying? Definitely. As good as the hype was? Not quite, but almost.

I did another premier last night here in Ft. Collins, and we played the ALMOST video first, just to really compare and contrast….Daewon kills it in Round 3, but his SKATE MORE part is so much more RAW. Pole Jam rock to fakie….WHAT? Monster fakie manual into a MAN SIZED bank…..Come on now.
I can’t belive you weren’t stoked on Jeron’s part, but to each is own…
And you didn’t even mention Dr. Z…..stone cold killer. He filmed all of that in a matter of weeks….betwenn getting on DVS, and getting broken.
And Berra….never mind that he is in the 30+ crowd, but just back from a full knee reconstruction, and KILLING it.
Anyway, I am biased…..those fools sign my checks, but for me I am claiming video of the year so far for purely for the “Makes me want to go skate as soon as the credits roll” factor!

Hmmm, maybe if DVS were to send me a complimentary copy of Skate More I might be persuaded to change my mind…who knows what I might see upon a closer examination of Daewon’s part. After all, I’ve only seen the video once and that was with a bunch of hyper kids yelling during the whole thing.

dr z feebles proabaly the biggest rail ive ever seen a feeble done down….buzenitz fans will like his part…chico does the smoothest line ever caught on camera at the start of his section…..gets double flips macba !!…..and HUF keeps the trend of having really styling sections…..berra skates the same spots, but never the less…KILLS…daewoon does a kickflip-manual-powerslide-fakie manual-fakie flip out….what?…i loved this video, and had a good sound track aswell
