Yeah yeah, this is a little late, but I hadn’t seen it until just now. And wow, it’s not that great. In these days of free DVDs with every issue of a magazine it’s easy to get spoiled. I can’t imagine someone actually paying money for this thing. It’s not that it’s all that bad…well, actually yes, it is.
First things first, I’m not a hater. Everyone in here is a good skater. Some are really good. But there’s a difference between being good, even really good, and being marketeable. And if you’re not marketeable then I’m sorry, no sponsor should be spending money on promoting you.
Case in point, Muska. Ah, how the mighty have fallen. Muska skates to lame music (unless you like mixing Nirvana and Blur together with some beats), does a lot of tricks I couldn’t do but just about any shop sponsored am could (including a low altitude kickflip to fakie on a mellow bank?! I could even do that), and looks fat. I’m not a hater, I’m just stating the facts. I like Muska in general, but this is one of the worst parts I’ve seen for any pro, period, let alone Muska. I’d rather watch Todd Falcon any day.
Other than Muska, the skating’s pretty good, but it feels a bit like something from ‘93. Lots of raver pants. Pudwill has a good bag of tricks, but is a little shaky. He looks like the kid who is just learning how to skate, except that he pulls tricks that people obviously don’t do when they’re just learning.
Potts is pretty amazing, both in his quality of skating and the lack of quality in his clothing choices and hairstyle.
Overall, I’d say the two biggest problems this video has are Muska and pants. Other than that it’s pretty good. Filming and editing is good, music is mediocre, skating is mostly good and darn good in many parts, but honestly, if I had to choose between just about any other video out there I’d buy the other video first. Sorry guys.
